overview


In the world of online shopping, the box is one of the most important and only guaranteed touch points with a customer. How do you turn a box into a creative and genuine customer connection? For Zappos, we developed the multi-platform #ImNotaBox campaign to inspire customers to see not just the box… but their own self and the world with a new perspective.

In the summer of 2016, we partnered with our friends at RedBull to participate in their annual flugtag event. The event encourages ambitious and creative teams to build an aircraft that is meant to go the distance in a flying competition over water. In the image of our shipping box, we packed our aircraft with a flying shoe and some quirky llama friends that did not go the distance… but most definitely went in style.

Combined with the launch of a heartwarming ad, an innovative packaging redesign, and other disruptive marketing tactics–the campaign garnered positive attention across the industry and even collected some awards along the way. To see more of the campaign, check out the other portfolio projects.

the art wall


With that year’s event taking place in Portland, we catered to their love for art and all things weird. So we built an art installation out of Zappos boxes that allowed attendees to add some life and color to the scrambled “Portland” mural. We also gave away tons of fun products like sandals from some of our favorite retail brands.
